Jamba Juice 5K Banana Man Chase Raises Over $23,000 for MDA Hawaii and Awards A Year of Jamba Smoothies to 25 finishers
Honolulu, Hawaii, July 9, 2005 – The 5th Annual Jamba Juice 5k Banana Man Chase proved fruitful for participants and the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Hawaii (MDA) which raised over $23,000 from the event.
Despite the rainy weather, “Hawaii’s Wackiest Race” drew over 500 people who walked, ran and strolled their way along the 3.1 mile course at Ala Moana Beach Park with the goal of catching the bunch of lead runners wearing Jamba banana costumes. Jamba awarded 25 a-peeling prizes of Jamba Juice smoothies for a year (valued at $240 each) to the top three men and women in each division that beat the Jamba banana.
Following the race, participants enjoyed free Jamba Juice smoothies, magic by Kaulana and an encore presentation of the crowd-pleasing Banana Man Slide dance performed by Jamba employees and spectators.
Over the past five years, the Jamba Juice Banana Man Chase has raised over $115,000 for MDA Hawaii.
